A sign-posted walking tour around the city will allow you to soak up the unique sights and atmosphere. The town was built on the River Lee and had one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Cork was the European Capital of Culture in 2005 and is a vibrant hub of fine dining, entertainment, shopping, sporting and hospitality venues. Even the Cork accent is distinctive and sounds like music to the ear. And if you care to venture outside of the city centre, you will find attractions such as Fota Wildlife Park, Jameson Heritage Centre in Midleton and Blarney Castle, where you can kiss the Blarney stone and pick up the gift of the gab!
